The Meetology® Research Institute
- Q: What is Meetology®?
- A: Meetology® is a trademarked term used to describe the study of the sciences affecting human behaviour and performance at meetings.
- Q: What is the Meetology® Research Institute?
- A: The Meetology® Research Institute collects, organises and disseminates the latest scientific research affecting human behaviour and performance at meetings via its website.
- Q: When was it set up and by whom?
- A: The Meetology® Research Institute was founded in 2010 by Professional Speaker and Meetings Performance Consultant Jonathan Bradshaw (www.jonathanbradshaw.com) and officially launched at the international meetings exhibition IMEX - the world's leading meetings and events trade exhibition - in Frankfurt, Germany in May 2011.
It is supported by a team of behavioural psychologist led by Dr Jon Sutton. Dr Sutton is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and has been a leading figure in the dissemination of pure and applied psychology for more than a decade.
- Q: Why was it launched and what are its goals?
- A: Meetology® and the Meetology® Research Institute are the result of Jonathan's interest in behavioural science along with his experience in the international meetings and events industry. Through his involvement in extreme physical and mental challenges, he developed an interest in behavioural science and performance improvement and, at a time when improved ROI in the meetings industry is at the forefront of everyone's minds, got curious as to how the research he came across could make meetings even more successful. The short terms goal of the institute is therefore to simply offer those who organise or attend meetings access to relevant scientific research that affects the behaviour and/or performance of the meeting participant.
- Q: Who is Meetology® research aimed at?
- Meetology® research will be of interest to those who organise meetings as well as those who attend them. Regular meeting participants may be interested in the research relating to inter-personal communication such as influence and persuasion whereas organisers may be more interested in the science that relates to how the meetings environments or even nutrition affects attendee behaviour and performance.
- Q: How much will it cost to view Meetology® research?
- A: Nothing. Visiting the website is free thanks to the generous support of our sponsors.
